Post by Aztoret »

Hi there!

I'm having a little trouble finding out what colour my colt is (other than he will gray at some point), any colour experts out there who can help?

He is a bay dun, you can tell as there is a line on his back that means dun

Well that is easy enough to clear up as well

Bays will have dark legs, typically dark mane/tail
Brown will be dark on the body with red light areas on the muzzle and flanks
Black will be black, if reddish black as a foal (if grey that is black + cream or smoky black)

all of these above can have silver (Cannot affect chestnuts) which lightens/whitens the mane/tail

Chestnuts are red all over

if the mane/tail/lower legs are lighter or white then the horse has flaxen (only affect chestnuts)
