Just a really dark chestnut or turning bay?

My latest foal, Getaway Winds was born chestnut I think but I'm not entirely sure now. her tail and coat seem to be getting darker but i'm not sure if she's just a really dark chestnut or turning bay?

Definitly bay. Her sire is a dark bay and her dam is black. This means that the foal will be bay. (70% chance) All the bays I have bred have been chestnut and by 1 year turned bay. This is kind of sorta what happens in real life. I don't really understand exactly how the geneticss come into play, but I am sure someone can help with that. On short, It is most certainly bay!

She was always a bay, if you look at her foal picture she has a dark mane/tail. A chestnut would have the same color as the body or lighter mane/tail.

I also recently adoped this prezewalksi stallion and I'm bad at identifying colors:

I think he's a mealy bay/mealy wild bay maybe mealy dun but I'm not a hundred present sure.

Extreme mealy bay dun (wild type), it is helpful to have the horse without tack or in a picture without tack.

thanks it does help a lot since I am really never sure.
