Good information for beginners
I don't know if I am allowed to link to other sites in this forum but I found a website that is explaining all kinds of colours with dilutions and the genetics behind them. Also with pictures and charts with text that is easy to read. The different variations of colours are also named with pictures/illustrations. I admit I have been very ignorant about the genetics for different kinds of dilutions before I started to play this game, I have had to learn a bit more and this site combined the information I found on many different sites in a simple and structured way.
http://www.horsecolors.us/
Information on the base colours:
http://www.horsecolors.us/darks/darks.htm
Chart for cream dilutions on base colours:
http://www.horsecolors.us/dilutions/cre ... _chart.htm
Chart for dun:
http://www.horsecolors.us/dilutions/dun ... -chart.htm
Chart (lower down on the page) for pure champagne colours. Under the chart you can click on "combinations" for more champagne combinations:
http://www.horsecolors.us/dilutions/cha ... colors.htm
This chart shows pretty much the same information on genetics as the sticky topic "HWO Horse Color Guide" but with more dilutions and the names for the coat colours (no pictures included in this one):
http://www.horsecolors.us/dilutions/dil ... _chart.htm
Click through the page to find more information about dilutions such as pearl, silver, flaxen etc. Even camouflage effects (dun included) like dapple, sooty and pangare.

So it seems like the webpage doesn't exist anymore. An admin is more than welcome to delete this thread since it is not of any use now.
