Naming My Colors

Post by BlackOak2 »

I think I'll need help with some of these. I think I got most of them down though.

Here's the first:
Golden Bleak

Buckskin or Palomino and with or without dun? I know he carries one cream gene, but I can't tell if he inherited two chestnut genes or is a wild bay expression. I also can't see any stripes so I think he missed getting the dun gene from either parent. The white mane and tail certainly doesn't help.

Palomino as a base. The coloration on the face makes me think dun as well(especially in his picture at 5.05 years).

Thank You Raikit.

Here's another...
Impressions Of The Blue Crown

Silver brown dun? or an odd expression of wild bay/bay? Perhaps I'm a bit further off base?

And another...
Sandy Flecks

An expression of varnish? Or do I have it correct as flaxen chestnut?

Is there an easier way to define bay versus wild bay than fetlock-black length?
For instance, are these two horses bay or wild bay?
Sometimes I can go back into their ancestry and figure it out, but these two (related) are still stumping me.

Silver Bay Roan? Is there perhaps another reason why the roan coloration has such a bright color? Could this be an extension or an unusual expression of the silver gene?

Chestnut, but does she have pangare/mealy? Or is that an expression of something else?

So this one is... different. Best I could fathom, is silver wild bay. There is little indication in her ancestry of pangare or dun and there doesn't seem to be any hidden dilution genes.

Both her parents carry dun, but does she have it?
