Gypsy Cob/Gypsy Vanner

Until registries are in place the Breeding Communities forum will be for players to work together towards creating or improving their favourite breeds.
Forum rules
Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.
All new threads must be approved.

Getting a bit closer on my gypsy cob breeding program with my first Exmoor and first Friesian! The hardest part I think is keeping the heavy feather, although crossing back to the Belgian for the Shire should help

Can you actually breed Gypsy Cobs yet? I mean can you actually get one from the following cross? [ Clydesdale x Dales ] x [ Friesian x Shire ] Or haven't they been written in yet?

Ahh, poopie. That's a pain. OH well, gives me more time to work on getting really nice, heavily feathered stock to breed them ;)

My first three Shire homebreds were born today. Aggravatingly, all colts.

    • Yeah C: I am working on that too, but I wasn't messing with it until I got to clydesdale x dales. Also already got the grey gene in, but carriers are still a bit too light for my taste so need to cross them with heavier ones.
I dont know how you guys, but I bred short tails in to by future gypsies. I feel like the current long type isnt fitting them at all. Will defo change if we get some nice wavy manes and tails.

I like the long tails, only because the gypsies seem to have such long heavy ones, but they should look ok with short tails too as for harness they are often plaited up
