breeding ligh build stallions

Until registries are in place the Breeding Communities forum will be for players to work together towards creating or improving their favourite breeds.
Forum rules
Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.

breeding ligh build stallions

Post by Muller »

Hello:
Am breeding light build TB stallions to light build TB mares, and the outcome is around 30% to 50% offsprings with very light build out come, is this normal?

Whats the tip to increase the % of getting more light build offsprings?

thank you

Don't forget, there are hidden genes we can't see on each horse. By culling appropriate foals, we slowly work out some of those hidden genes.

So. The reason many of your foals are born 'very light' is likely because the parents have hidden 'very light' style genes.
Keep an eye on the req's; the actual build and size numbers in the evaluations tab. Cull the foals that favor those lighter numbers. And in about 3 generations, you should start seeing a much stronger change toward that slightly more 'build' option that you want.

In your case, using those evaluation tab numbers will be your best bet to cull the correct foals the fastest. And not the build you see on the front page of the horse's profile.
