Haha, yeah... I can't imagine what my perfectionist tendencies would be like without games like this. I'm definitely somewhere pretty deep on that neurodivergence spectrum, so I need all the practice I can get to not get stuck fixating on some things.

... Speaking of which! My first steps into moving forward with my project are currently cooking, and in the meantime, here are the previous-step's results that have matured. I'm sure these tests for cryptic dun will start to be scaled back, (and I'll probably make a post for this project in the breeding communities board or something,) but here are some of the ones still hanging around i the meantime. Sorry to anyone who looks at it that it's a bigger pile than I realized. (Also, if anyone wanted to call out which ones are indeed actually plume, that would be a big bonus. ):

Also, I find it funny that you were having trouble getting rid of pangare, whereas I seem to be having trouble hanging onto it.

Bigger pile???

https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3892104 - right off the bat, this one is obvious. So the test to cross with that caspian mare, did the trick.

https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3893760 - this one is also dun. Although I know you're unlikely to see it, there right at the base of the neck, in front of the shoulder, there's a single downward line that's attributed to dun. It's more visible if you take a gallery image and make it really big.

https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3893761 - I see no signs of dun on this one, not even a suspect body mask that 'may or may not be' (like we sometimes see with some of these base-color variations).

https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3553986 - Like this one, this one has that base-color variation that looks a bit like a suspect body mask. But I don't think this one has dun. Maybe I'm wrong though. Pangare is throwing me off a little.

https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3891851 - this one appears clear.

https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3891854 - this one I'm unsure about. The brown variation is a bolder one and although that makes for a pretty coloration, that paired with the pangare... it's not quite evident whether it's dun or not dun. But I'm leaning more on the NOT dun side.

https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3892085 - this one I'm fairly certain is clear of dun.

https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3892101 - I think this one is clear too... it's quite a light bay making me think it's suspect, but I see no real signs, not even a body mask or a dorsal on the newborn image.

https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3892102 - I think this one is clear as well.

https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3893762 - I'm thinking another clear.

https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3893763 - this one appears to have a dorsal stripe... but in the gallery, it appears to be absent in the newborn pic. So I'm unsure.

Another huge thank-you for all your help!! I would have given up on this project if it hadn't been for the guidance that you (and everyone else that contributed) has given me every time I've returned to the project.

I have one small, final batch of horses that I could use dun feedback on as I am finishing up my Caspian tests and just moving on to the next step, with the new goal of keeping dun as cryptic or removed as possible instead of trying to weed out every last bit of it. If anyone wants to peek in at the project from here on out, I'll probably put up a post in Farm Logs for them soon.

The heart is a lovely addition. :D

Super Bull 1 doesn't appear BLACK-black. And there does appear to be the faintest hint of flush on those ankles. I'm going to say that she's dun.

Dovetail 1 looks lighter and even appears to have an ankle flush... but I think that just his bay variation. The darker-legs aren't fully black like some bays have but that's unrelated to dun. I think... he's free of dun.

Bullet Song 2 also appears to not be BLACK-black and even appears brighter than Super Bull 1. I will say, dun.

I'm on the fence on Regal Bully 2. I think I see a dorsal stripe, but it seems absent in the newborn pic. But those ankles seemed flushed and differently flushed than Dovetail 1. I'm leaning toward dun with this filly.

Thanks so much! I'm glad that I'm moving away from doing these tests anymore, because this batch--more than most of the others--had left me feeling the most confused. With these last results now logged, I am ready to happily retire my testing Caspians and move on!

 I could agree!

It's great to have a goal, but we also must understand when to throw the towel in. Once we get that gene testing, things like this will be much easier. Although... maybe I'll miss a little of the frustration it brings???
Ya think??
