FIlly's mane laid over at 8 months

In my experience, horses have manes that stand up until after 2 years old. This filly, however, has her mane turned over at 8 months!

In my experience, horses have manes that stand up until after 2 years old. This filly, however, has her mane turned over at 8 months!

Mane layover (like most of the genes on HWO) can be bred for.

The earliest I've had mine lay over, was I think 3 or 4 months of age.
Certainly surprised me at that time!

Interesting isn't it?

As another little tidbit, you can also have a newborn foal take on the adult 'image' of a horse pretty early too. As in, they can look very adult-ish even before hitting a yearling.

Just remember the HWO most basic rule for breeding.
"Things you don't want, cull out, things you do want, breed in."
It'll pretty much get you to wherever you want to go.

Yes, I believe I've had a colt whose mane laid over at 2 months old! I clicked on him and I was like "I thought he was supposed to be a baby..."

Actually that's right around the time my horses' manes usually lay over at.
