Pangare or something else?
Post by Eugene »
I'm fairly certain this filly is Flaxen Red Dun, however, the lighter coloration on her back legs is throwing me off. Is that caused by pangare? Her dam has the same thing but to a lesser degree.

It does look like Pangare, which a lot of in-game Friesians that aren't black seem to have. She is Flaxen Chestnut though.Eugene wrote:I'm fairly certain this filly is Flaxen Red Dun, however, the lighter coloration on her back legs is throwing me off. Is that caused by pangare? I don't think there's any pangare involved, since it should be showing on the belly and face as well. The lighter color on the lower legs is a common effect of flaxen. Since we know AC Arabians don't carry pangare, the first horse below is a good example. I'll also include a forest horse with minimal pangare as an example of how it affects the legs, belly and face simultaneously.Eugene wrote:I'm fairly certain this filly is Flaxen Red Dun, however, the lighter coloration on her back legs is throwing me off. So while you're correct that pangare can cause lightening on the legs, in this case it's just the flaxen
Edited to add: on horses with black points like bays, pangare doesn't seem to affect the legs

Hidalgo is correct - that horse is a flaxen chestnut tobiano.FriesianBreeder100 wrote:It does look like Pangare, which a lot of in-game Friesians that aren't black seem to have.
