Updates to Horses for Sale searching

Making it even easier to find what you're looking for

We've made a few changes to the Horses for Sale page in the marketplace. Now you can limit your search to ads posted in the last week or month, so you aren't constantly looking through old ads. The date the ad was posted is also included now, as well as better visibility of the details of the horse posted.

May I ask when you are going to allow the approved mares only? :D :D :D

WOW!
34 pages of added sales just in the past 7 days!
For those of you thinking 'how many is that?' 334 horses.

We're doing a lot of buying and selling. :P

Did some number crunching. At the time of my data collection there were:

4,422 total horses on the market

Of those horses:

About 90 (2%) were posted in the past 24 hours
331 (7.5%) were posted in the past 7 days
778 (17.6%) were posted in the past 30 days

That means that 82.4% were posted more than 30 days ago.

Just in case people were wondering why we need market cleaners. It appears that if your horse isn't snatched up within the first 24 hours the chance of it being purchased decreases almost exponentially as time goes on.

It also really brings up the issue with "Offers Only" horses just sticking in the market forever. I love private sales, but there really does need to be a limit on how long those listings last.

The plan right now is to do a massive manual deletion of the ads, and then setup a script that removes ads older than 6 months or a year. Whatever makes the most sense. Everyone let us know what you think the best time limit for ads are and we'll figure it out. :D

Love seeing this update to the game! Super interesting to see the percentages of horses from each timeframe that Silverine figured out as well.

After seeing those percentages I believe that if we even clear old ads after 6 months that would be more than enough... but perhaps other people may wish for longer.

Often times horses that are left for a long time have one of four or so main reasons that I have found, these being:
1. Offers only horse.
2. Super high price.
3. Super common, saturated breed with either problem one or two.
4. Not common breed that has no interest (sometimes with problem one or two added in as well making it hard for people to buy these breeds even IF they are wanted.)

I personally think clearing the market every 6 months will still give a large pool to buy from while also still giving an accurate representation of which horses are available from active players.

This is all of course just my observations and other people may see a need for longer times between deletions but at the same time I feel as if a horse hasn't been bought/offered on/offer accepted in the past 6 months than something should be said odds wise as to whether the horse will ever be bought/offered on/have an accepted offer.

I'm interested to see others thoughts on the matter!

I love private sales too but agree 100% on limiting the time of those listings. 1 month should be more than enough time to sell a horse. Even if it were extended to 60 days it would cut way down on old unnecessary market sales taking up space.. I think leaving them up for 6 months or more is way too long.
