This could be a glitch horse, but I'm not too sure on that.Eternity Awaits wrote:What is this coloration? I've never seen one like it.
I believe this is a chestnut with extreme pangare and sooty that's darkening that mane to be a pseudo-black. It could even be a flaxen chestnut. Of course with Lp and tobiano.

I don't know what the color is, but she's adorable! That color really is pretty!

Definitely looks like a glitch horse to me.BlackOak2 wrote:This could be a glitch horse, but I'm not too sure on that.Eternity Awaits wrote:What is this coloration? I've never seen one like it.

Based on that, and the fact that the mane is the teller in the final color, this horse will turn either bay or black at 10 years old and may or may not still have tobiano markings. I've never personally had a glitch horse with lp, but based on the mane I'm going to guess that it won't have lp once it's unglitched.
I say it's a glitch rather than a chestnut mostly because of the difference between mane and tail. The red color seen in the tail is very washed out and I don't think we have a combination of lp and sooty that is strong enough to make the mane as dark as it is without also effecting other parts of the horse.

I still have mixed feelings on this horse. And nominally because I've been confused before. It would be a 'wait and see' for me.Silverine wrote:Definitely looks like a glitch horse to me.BlackOak2 wrote:

Similarly questionable, like the following horse.

The difference to me is that the horse you posted is very clearly sooty - meaning the mane isn't actually black, just very very dark (the highlights still show some of the base chestnut color). You can also see the effect of sooty on the tail head, and definitely on the neck, especially before the mane grew out:BlackOak2 wrote: I still have mixed feelings on this horse. Similarly questionable, like the following horse.
Compare that to the first horse. The first horse's mane is very clearly black - there are no chestnut-y highlights or varnish streaking. While there may be a hint of sooty around the neck and tail head, it is not nearly to the extent of the above horse, but the mane is still much darker. (Side note: That 'sooty' to me also appears to be lp sooty, rather than regular sooty.) Also, in my experience, lp is more likely to lighten the mane over time than it is to darken it. I actually personally don't see any lp effects on the first horse's mane.
For anyone not familiar with varnish streaking in the mane, this is an example of what I'm talking about:
And here is the same horse six years later, with the lp lightening his mane as I mentioned above.

I agree with you. But I'll still question it until she turns 10 years.Silverine wrote:...
I'm still curious to see what the mare in question (of this topic), turns out to be.

I couldn't stop laughing at first.
She turned into a gorgeous brown pangare.
She certainly is a curiosity in the glitch department.
By the way, thank you for the update.
