What color is this guy?
Post by Wiccan »
Hey, I'm really bad at figuring out horse colors and I need some help with this guy:
https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/352341
Is he a fleabitten grey on chestnut or something? Almost all the markings he was born with are covered by now.
Thanks in advance!

If you look at his 0.71 year old pick you see the color around the eyes get lighter witch means he is a flea bitten. What I would say if it was my horse would be a LP body to flea bitten LPWiccan wrote:Hey, I'm really bad at figuring out horse colors and I need some help with this guy:

We are lucky you took pictures as he grew and changed colours, otherwise it would have made it more difficult.FantasyRanch2 wrote:If you look at his 0.71 year old pick you see the color around the eyes get lighter witch means he is a flea bitten. Burning Effigy is more than likely a Fleabitten Flaxen Red Dun with 1 copy of the Leopard switch. (D, f/f, Fg, LP/lp).
He does seem quite intriguing on first glance.
I could tell straight off that he was a Red Dun through the baby photos, and you can tell he has the Flaxen gene since (go to the 0YO picture for the best example) his mane is a pink-ish colour with a dark red lining at the base. As he got older he greyed, and as soon as the greying was complete he got fleabitten spots on his body where some of his Leopard spots were.
If it matters, he only has one copy of the Leopard switch because both his parents share that gene. You can tell it is only one since the edge between the Leopard patterning and the coat is cut clearly.
A wise man once said nothing at all.
