What colour is this?

Post by Atterupgaard »

Help me please.
Normally I'm quite good at colours, but this time I'm really in great doubt!

I have three shetland ponies; from what I can see, it's a bay, a perlino, and then a God-knows-what?!

I'm sure that my Ginny is a Bay:

And sure certain that my Jasper is a Perlino:

BUT, I can't figure out what kind of colour my Joey is?!

I'm thinking about some chestnut/red with some LP, snowflake or anything in that sort of things, but I'm no way near sure! :)

The first two are correct. The third is chestnut with pangare (aka sorrel), a hip blanket and LOTS of snowflakes. :)

I'd say the bay has pangare too.

Ginny is Mealy Bay and Jasper is definitely Perlino. As for Joey, I am guessing he was originally chestnut but is graying, and of course he has patterns on him. It would be easier to figure him out with pictures from when he was a foal and if I could look at his parents. I would ask a color expert to make sure what color Joey is :P
