Odd dilute
Post by Aela »
Hey, so I think I've made a mistake somewhere in my colour breeding lines. Pearl has entered the game, I fear.
This is the guy in question. He's very unique IMO, and if I had to take a shot at his colour, it would be something along the lines of Flaxen & Sooty Red Cream/Pearl or...
... maybe just an odd shade of Cremello? His foal coat (that I have on my computer, sadly not saved on his profile) looks identical to that of a Cremello, and not like the cream/pearl foal pictures I've saved.
Now I question his lines as well, and have renamed the horses with colours I'm uncertain of in his pedigree. Dam was sold to me as a Silver Smoky Cream, but I'm 99% she's Silver Black Cream/Pearl - so that would be a very viable entry for pearl, but I'm still not sure about his sire that I had originally described as Flaxen Gold Cream Champagne Dun. He, however, could also pass for an Apricot Champagne. If I could only see his eye colour, that would make it much easier!
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, and merry Christmas :)

He's cremello, just with extensive sooty. This horse is perlino rather than cremello, but is a nice example of extensive sooty on double cream. It's expressed differently than your boy's but shows how much the color can change:Aela wrote:
I'd keep an eye on your horse's sire. He looks like he has dun.

Melody appears to be Amber Champagne Dun with Lp and To
Honey appears to be bay with snowflakes and To. Other genes may be there, but with no foal and yearling gallery photos, it's difficult to offer further insight. I suspect she may also have dun.
