Can someone please explain how you can tell (or show with examples) when a horse is likely to be:

1. EE/Aa
2. Ee/Aa

I've been looking all over the web but can't figure it out...

You can't tell by looking at them, only if they throw chestnuts or blacks you know they are heterozygous for one or the other

You can tell a horse is Ee when the horse itself has a coat colour that's based on black (so black, bay, buckskin etc.) and one of its parents is a chestnut. It has to have inherited an e from there.

When a horse is bay but one of its parents is black, it has to carry an a. So it's Aa.
