Striped Horse Breeding Project (Day: 7) (On Hold)

Until registries are in place the Breeding Communities forum will be for players to work together towards creating or improving their favourite breeds.
Forum rules
Each breed may have only one topic. The first post in the topic is to be informative. It should help explain the breed, and breeding goals; advice on how to select mares and stallions; and links to ideal Stallions available for breeding.
Keeping a directory of breeders working on the same goal is also helpful.
All new threads must be approved.

Day 5-6 (I took a small break) (6/2/2021)

So, I've taken a small break, due to some in real life events and such, but I'm starting back up again now.

The filly ( https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3091677 ) has been aged to a year and 7 months, and has very visible stripes, which is really awesome. i'd call her the closest I've had to sucess.

I've also popped the newest foal: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3094054
No striped have appeared just yet, but I've found that it takes a couple months for them to show.

For today's agenda, I'm now starting 'stage 2'. I'm going to look for sporthorse studs with stripes. I've already found a couple Arabians, and some Thoroughbreds as well, so I'm going to do some experimenting. Hopefully, if I can breed one of my Tarpans with any of the warmbloods, I will have a cross w/ stripes (although not as visible) and slowly eliminate the Tarpan by re-breeding with other Thoroughbreds, Arabians, etc.

I'll update later on which horse I decide to stud!

Update (6/2/21)

I've made the decision to rehome the new foal. I've decided to do this because I realized that I will most likely have the same results with that foal as the other, and need space for 'stage 2'.

I did some looking around for studs, but haven't had much luck. I found a couple good Thoroughbreds but their stripes were too 'quiet'.

Project on hold. (6/7/21)

If it hasn't been obvious enough, lately, I haven't been able to get on as much as I use to. There are many different things that have caused that. I'm currently trying to create the striped horse, which in some ways, I have already acomplished, while creating a top-level dressage program.

It's been difficult with the whole ageing thing, and I cannot create another account.

In conclusion, I will be putting this project on hold. I'm hoping that it won't collect too much dust like my last fail, but, I'll try to get up and going again once I have the time to do so!

It looks like your only using tarpans but I have a really stripey clyde that I think might work.

(look in his gallery, the saddle hides a lot of his stripes)

So, the mare that I bred last time (https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3091675) just finished foaling. I checked up on the foal, who currently has no visible stripes, but I'm hoping more vivid stripes will appear as the foal ages. Here is the foal: https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3091677.

Today's goal is to age the foal to at least 4-5 years, to see if the stripes come through more. I'm also planning on breeding a couple more pairs, to do some more testing.

I do have another goal for today, although it's much more of a 'side' goal, rather than on the To-Do list. I'm going to be looking out for breeds like Arabians, KPWN, Thoroughbreds, and any warmbloods with even the faintest stripes. That will hopefully get me a step close to breeding competition horses with stripes.

I may update later, but for now, that is today's agenda.
I've just been strolling through the boards and came across your project. I remembered I had bred some stripy horses [not with that purpose in mind but they came anyway :D ] and so I went looking and gathered them up to see what I had that might help you with your goals. Here they are all in one barn.

Mostly Thoroughbreds but with decent stats and high HGP. If you want to use any of the stallions let me know. I've bred them to some of my stripped mares too, just to see what I'd get. I'd be happy to continue along these lines if you think it can be of use to you.
