TrapandJup breeding operations

LOG ONE 5/29/22

Hey lovelies! If you didn’t know I’ve taken quite a long hiatus from this game due to losing motivation and interest, however, I am officially back! I’ve decided to continue my breeding experiments and keep seeking the results I’m looking for. I’ve decided that in addition to continuing my Calgara horses (NABxForest) I will also be bringing back an older project breed called Darghuna horses (ArabxBelgian)! I am so excited for both of these breeds to get more developed and specialized! So far I just purchased totally new breeding stock yesterday and I am currently awaiting the first batch of foals. This time around I was a lot more selective about what I bought, and with a few exceptions, I only bought horses with 0 COI and no red or other comments. This will allow me to start from scratch a little more and influence the traits they develop. I also won’t have to breed out bad traits this way!

Here’s what I’ve got so far:
3 Belgian mares
3 Belgian stallions
3 Arabian mares
3 Arabian stallions
2 Forest Horse stallions
2 NAB mares

I am super excited to see what comes from the first generation and plan on rebreeding a few times to see what happens! I’ll be keeping the best ones after that! At the moment I’m thinking of breeding Calgara horses for Hunters and/or dressage and Darghuna horses for western pleasure or all round western! I fully expect my plans and goals to change throughout this project, however, that’s where I’m at right now. I may sell a few castoffs so look out for that! I will try to update you guys on a semi-regular basis now that summer is coming up.

Current goals:
Get first generation born
Have at least 2 good candidates from each cross
Make sure there are no red comments

Let me know if you have any questions or ideas! Please either ping me or make a separate comment and don’t quote this whole message LOL. Have a good morning/afternoon/evening/night lovelies!

I love unique TBs! I’ve thought about trying a mini project with them but I think I’ll stick with my main project for now. I might try crossing some TBs into my breeds later on to see what happens!

LOG 2 5/30/22

Hey lovelies! Today has been absolutely amazing at TrapandJup! The first generation is nearly complete and they have turned out much better than expected! Minus the two foals I’m still waiting on I am all stocked up for the next round of breeding once foals are of age. My requirements for this generation were no red comments and a genetic potential of 30,000 or higher. I decided to keep breeding until I had a colt and filly from each set of parents to make sure that I will have enough stock to continue my breeding program. I’m surprised at how quickly I was able to fulfill my goals for this generation, as it’s only taken a couple breedings to produce what I was looking for. Right now my Calgara project is much smaller than the Darghuna program, and I am still actively keeping an eye on the market to see if I can find any good breeding stock candidates. Overall it’s been quite an eventful day.

Darghuna Updates below!

Current problems in gen 1 (ArabxBelgian):
-Only one horse with a highlighted comment
-All taking after Belgians more heavily
-Don’t look great conformationally, needs shorter back and more refined neck
-Most of them are the same color (sorrel/chestnut)

Current success in gen 1 (ArabxBelgian):
-Predictable offspring
-Good genetic potential (30k+)
-Kept nice Arabian head
-Nice, strong legs

Current trends in gen 1 (ArabxBelgian):
-Chesnut/sorrel with no markings
-0* Arabian 2* Belgian evaluation
-31k-34k genetic potential
-All carry very similar build
-No comments

Best gen 1 (ArabxBelgian):
- filly; Hebe; https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3562463
She’s honestly nothing too special but has the highest genetic potential
-colt; Achilles; https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3562875
This colt is definitely special, and is my only gen 1 with a green comment and has the highest genetic potential even compared to the fillies

I also have 1 filly in probation as her genetic potential is 31K, however she really is lovely:
Nike; https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3562462
I rebred her parents to see if I can get a better filly from them

Calgara updates below!

So as I said before right now my Calgara project is much smaller and generation one will only consist of 4 horses. So far 3 are born and have all been pretty great! I find this cross comes out much nicer from the beginning and has much less of the conformational issues my Darghuna horses seem to have. I feel like NAB and Forest is a much more natural cross when it comes to blending together as they’re fairly similar. So far I adore these guys and they are definitely a lot easier on me when it comes to achieving the look I’m going for.

Gen 1 problems (NABxForest):
-Very pointy and triangular chest
-Slightly sagging back end
-Smallish head (want a bit bigger)

Gen 1 successes (NABxForest):
-Nice color
-Overall nice and smooth look, good confo
-Good genetic potential (30K+)

Gen 1 trends (NABxForest):
-Bay
-Little/no markings
-30-34 genetic potential

Since this is a much smaller generation than my Darghunas I’ll just show y’all what I’ve got so far! I have two colts and a filly, still waiting for my last girl to make an appearance (mom is set to pop any day now and I REALLY hope it’s a filly!).

Filly:
Calypso; https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3562873

Colts:
Ares; https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3562457
Iapetus; https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3562459

That’s all I’ve got for you guys today! Feel free to visit my farm to see what I’m up to, or check out this thread for updates! Please ping me or send a separate message here with any comments, questions, or inquiries. Don’t be shy! I’m happy to chat! As always lovelies, have a great rest of your day/night.

LOG THREE 9/3/22

Hello lovelies! I apologize for the unannounced hiatus, however, I am back and getting into the swing of things once again! I decided to embark on a couple smaller projects just for fun as there’s lots of waiting involved in my main projects at the moment. Things are coming along quite nicely! I have nearly all the foals I need for the first generation of Calgara and Darghuna horses, now I am just waiting for all of them to reach breeding age! The only horse I am currently waiting on is another filly to take Nike’s place, as her HGP isn’t quite 30K. I’ve had a bout of the ‘colt curse’ recently so I'm hoping really hard for a filly!

Darghuna Updates below!

Current problems in gen 1 (ArabxBelgian):
-Only one horse with a highlighted comment
-All taking after Belgians more heavily; the newer foals have been 0* for both breeds though!
-Don’t look great conformationally, needs shorter back and more refined neck; a few of the younger ones have this now
-Most of them are the same color (sorrel/chestnut/bay)

Current success in gen 1 (ArabxBelgian):
-Predictable offspring
-Good genetic potential (30k+)
-Kept nice Arabian head
-Nice, strong legs

Current trends in gen 1 (ArabxBelgian):
-Chesnut/sorrel with no markings; now have some bays
-0* Arabian 2* Belgian evaluation; some are now 0* of both breeds!
-31k-34k genetic potential
-All carry very similar build
-No comments

Best gen 1 (ArabxBelgian):
- filly; Hebe; https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3562463
Still has the best HGP!!!
-colt; Achilles; https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3562875
This colt is still my only gen 1 with a green comment and has the highest genetic potential overall

I also have 1 filly in probation as her genetic potential is 31K, however she really is my favorite probably:
Nike; https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3562462
I rebred her parents to see if I can get a better filly but it hasn’t been working so we’ll see what happens there

Calgara updates below!

These guys haven’t changed much since the last update. I have all 4 of the first generation now, and the second filly I needed is perfectly in league with the others for basically everything. I don’t really have anything to do with them at the moment other than wait for them to reach maturity. I may see about picking up a couple more horses to expand this project.

Gen 1 problems (NABxForest):
-Very pointy and triangular chest
-Slightly sagging back end; looks a bit better now
-Smallish head (want a bit bigger)

Gen 1 successes (NABxForest):
-Nice color
-Overall nice and smooth look, good confo
-Good genetic potential (30K+)

Gen 1 trends (NABxForest):
-Bay
-Little/no markings
-30-34 genetic potential

So there’s nothing really new here but if you wanna check out the new filly I’ll add her link before and you can also see how the other horses are progressing. She’s the most uniquely colored but also has an oddly shaped and large head I’m not the biggest fan of. Hopefully she’ll grow into it!

Filly:
NEW Khione; https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3562898
Calypso; https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3562873

Colts:
Ares; https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3562457
Iapetus; https://www.horseworldonline.net/horse/profile/3562459

That’s all I’ve got for you guys today! Please ping me or send a separate message here with any comments, questions, or inquiries. Don’t be shy! I’m happy to chat! Bye lovelies, have a great rest of your day/night. Love you all.

LOG FOUR 8/5/22

So basically I scrapped my main projects and my farm has descended into chaos :? . I’m now just kinda breeding a bunch of random rare breeds as well as trying to start a herd of grey Arabs. So nothing all that interesting to report until I get this absolute mess sorted
