Overall, your command for the ping WAS correct. I do remember (it doesn't appear to have been a problem in the recent past) that there was an issue with being on phones and trying to use the code. It puts in the wrong type of quotation marks.
That doesn't appear to've been your problem.

I also remember that we can turn off the command prompts in our settings. I think, in your instance, this may be your issue. If you continue to see it like your first post... i.e. unable to use pinging or any of the command prompts.

Go into the full editor of your post and look to the right under the emojis. The BBCode should read as ON. If it is OFF, then go into:
Settings (dropdown)
Forum Settings
Board Preferences (tab)
Edit Posting Defaults (highlight)

Here you can turn your BBCode back on. Hit submit and try it again.

This just about exhausts my understanding of this problem. If this doesn't work, we may need to get another player more informed brought in, or turn to admin to tell us what we're missing.
