Invicto Acre's Andalusian Project
Post by Andraste »
INVICTO ACRES BREED STANDARD
All horses bred by Invicto Acres are graded against the Andalusian breed standard and given scores based on how close their conformation matches the standard. In addition to the conformation standard (detailed below), I aim to produce horses with ears that are moderate to slightly short, a mane that is long and medium thickness, a tail that is long, low, and thick, and no leg feathering.
Currently, my project is focusing exclusively on conformation; however, when I reach the final stage of Andalusians, I hope that the conformation will be well set enough to start looking at improving abilities.
* PRE standard calls for the shoulder, barrel, and haunches to equal 1/3 of the body length each. Therefore, hip length varies based on body size.
ADOPTION CENTER HORSE IDEAL CONFORMATION
0 = Extreme left.
5 = Moderate.
9 = Extreme right.
* Some numbers are pushed more to the extreme to correct for insufficient scores in other AC breeds.
Tarpans not included in table since I plan to get them as close to Andalusian standard as possible.
See below for breeding plans.
IDEAL ANDALUSIAN CONFORMATION
* May change depending on body size.
INVICTO ACRES ANDALUSIAN ROADMAP
My goal is to set my Andalusians up to be close to the PRE standard from conception. To achieve this, I plan on breeding foundation stock that have conformation close to what I desire before actually working up the Andalusian breeding tree.
Andalusian → [ Sorraia × Carthusian ] × [ Sorraia × West African Barb ]
Carthusian → West African Barb × Sorraia
Mongolian → [ Przewalski Horse × Tarpan ] × Tarpan
Sorraia → [ Tarpan × Mongolian ] × [ Tarpan × West African Barb ]
West African Barb → [ North African Barb × Arabian ] × [ North African Barb × Forest Horse ]

BREEDING PLAN
- STEP 1: Breed at least 12 Tarpans with an overall score of at least 80%. [In Progress]
- → Tarpans are used the most throughout breed creation.
→ The closer my Tarpans are to the standard, the less variation there will be down the road.
→ Have at least half of the Tarpans have the Varnish/Grey gene combo.
- → Ideal Przewalski Horse from AC would score 49% {70%|0%|67%}.
→ Don't spend too much time trying to get perfect Prze, Tarpan will make up for weakness.
- → Try to breed at least 6 from separate lines that have an overall score of at least 80%.
- → Make sure no overlap with Tarpan lines to keep COI lower.
→ Best NAB × Arab = { 5|5|3|4 } — { 8|6|6|6 } — { 4|0|3|6|1|6 }
→ Best NAB × FH = { 4|5|8|4 } — { 8|6|3|6 } — { 4|0|4|2|1|6 }
→ Try for at least 80% overall score in WAB conformation.
- → Once this is achieved, future crosses should be good conformation.
→ Make at least 6 Sorraia to make at least 6 Carthusian.
→ Make sure at least half have Grey/Varnish combo.
- → Tarpans are used the most throughout breed creation.

Hi! I'm trying to breed 0% COI Thoroughbred and because of that I have a lot of West African Barbs, Sorraias, Carthusians, mixes between these breeds (Sorraia x Carthusian and Sorraia x West African Barb) and Andalusians. Tell me if you want some of them (you can look at that account and my side account Maesta)Andraste wrote:Ping
